Another Scooter Day, Ferry Ride
Nov 27, 2022 - Sunday
Big mission today. We were leaving Krabi and heading south to Koh Adang Island. It's going to be a 265km road trip on the scooter and an hour long boat ride to Koh Lipe. The scootering went well, Graham was a good navigator and lead us through all the twists and turns we needed to reach the Pakbara Pier in time for our 1:30 ferry. There was plenty of sights along the way that would be cool to revisit but we were on a bit of a mission. We passed through a couple small towns tucked into the big limestone formations which would be cool to walk around in. There was signs for waterfalls and hot springs along the road, one of those seems more inviting than the other.
We made it to Pakbara Pier with an hour to spare. Found our ferry booking company and parked our scooters in their safe parking. We had a little a la carte lunch and headed out to the Pier waiting room. It was air conditioned in there, a nice reprieve from the heat of the day and our wind swept bodies from the long scoot. The speed boat ferry was fast and the ocean not too wavy. We were able to go 30 knots and got the Koh Lipe in no time. We hopped on a scooter taxi with the side cart attached and crossed Koh Lipe. We weren't keen to hoof our bags across the island, its much too hot. We were glad we didn't walk, too many sneaky back roads we would've got lost on. Our taxi driver definitely took us the back road, through huge muddy puddles we were happy to not have to try to walk through. He dropped us on zodiac beach where we call our resort on Koh Adang to come pick us up. They hopped in their long tail boat and in no time we were crossing the channel to our final destination, the Koh Adang Resort.
We were so happy to arrive, it was a long day of travelling. I jumped straight into the big pool. Not a very refreshing pool, but the the showers are at least a bit cooler and nice after a swim. We enjoyed a couple mojitos and gin and tonics on pool side loungers, then some of the beers we carted with us on our little patio. We finally sauntered over to the restaurant for another tasty Thai dinner. We did a little walk up the waterfall trail in the dark, didn't make it too far before seeing a little snake and Graham was not keen to continue after that.
