Ao Nang and the Monkey Trail
Nov 24, 2022 - Thursday
Another peaceful sleep in Thailand. We keep waking up with the sun and having quiet mornings. I mostly have a coffee in bed with my book while Graham starts to look up what we should do with the day. We already knew we wanted to get a little exercise so we headed to Monkey Trail. It's right close to us and is a little boardwalk made of planks and bamboo that allow you to scramble along the rock to reach Pai Plong Beach. It was relatively quiet on the beach, its a has a little resort tucked into the limestone with only boat access or along the Monkey Trail we came in on. Graham few his drone around the big rocks and into caves while I walked the little beach and took in the sights. We headed back along the trail and came across a big pack of monkeys right at the end of the trail. We hung out with them for a while, chatting and watching them move from tree top to tree top. A few of the outgoing ones came down to the ground or eye level in the trees and checked us out right back. We stopped for smoothies me on our way out, the fresh fruit makes for good smoothies, mango and banana was on our menu today. Once I realized they had an espresso machine I ordered a latte. The instant coffee provided by the villas does quite satisfy my coffee addiction. Graham took off before the rain started while I sipped my caffeinated comfort. It was starting to rain by now and judging by the cloud it wouldn't be stopping anytime soon.
Back to the Andakiri villas for a little swim and siesta. I read while Graham napped and we both just had a lazy afternoon. The rain subsided and we went out of an early dinner/late lunch. We went to a simple tiny Thai place that was right across the street from where we picked up some laundry. It took a little longer to get food but it was all super fresh, and clearly everything was sliced, diced and fried just for us. We weren't hurting either, a couple of big Singha beers to tide us over while we waited for the food. Each time we ordered a beer the server would run out and buy one at a nearby store. Clearly he knows a way around the no selling of alcohol in stores between 2-5pm rule.
Since we had an early dinner we walked the south Ao Nang beach while it was livening up for the night. Everyone was trying to get us in for happy hour cocktails on the roof top patios but we were full already and content to just window shop and wander the street one way and the beach on the way back.
Early movie night with the rain easing us into sleep quickly.
