Ferry, Scooter and into the Jungle

 December 1, 2022 - Thursday

Moving day! We had to leave the tranquil Koh Adang, it was hard to leave and would love to be revisited. We really enjoyed our stay away for the people and hustle of town life. It wasn't too early of a start, we had a slow packing morning and left on the 10:30 boat to Koh Lipe, ready to catch the 11:30 speedboat back the Pakbara Pier. Everything went smooth, we hit a bit rainstorm along the way hoped that wouldn't be an all day thing. Luckily it was dry when we picked up our scooters and we set off on our 230km journey north. We went through one rain storm off the bat, but it lightened up for a while. Less then halfway there were some big dark clouds ahead so we stopped in at a little cafe restaurant. Nothing on the menu was in English or used our alphabet so we translated our order through the phone to a friend and got a lunch of fried rice with beef and some fried chicken. We were happy with that and had a good time communicating with the older gentleman there who was happy to speak the few English words he knew with us and we made a lot of hand gestures and laughs to get a few points across. It rain pretty hard while we ate but we didn't want to delay anymore and end up driving in the dark so we set off in the rainstorm. It rained for a bit before it let up and didn't rain too much after that. We made Graham directed us very well the whole way. We had one spot were we went the wrong way on a big overpass but the redirected route was the same time overall and took us through smaller towns in the jungle were we stood out and got pointed at as we passed through.

Happily we arrived at the D'Endless hotel just before dark. It was a long day of riding and we were happy to be there. We had a warm shower, dried off finally and relaxed for an hour or so before heading out for dinner. We pulled into the first place we saw and were the only customers. It was a restaurant up on the second floor and the restaurant was like a big tree house. We were able to get a couple nice cold Singhas poured while we tried to decipher the Thai menu. We ended up just pointing at the pictures to order food and hoped we got what we though we ordered. It all turned out to be great, Pad Thai, red curry, Tom Yum soup and spring rolls. They even understood just a little spice... which for us is plenty! We were well looked after, all the amazing food and three big beers was under 1000 baht.

A short scooter ride home later we were tucked into bed after a long day. Took a bit to figure out how to turn the Netflix to English, but we prevailed and fell asleep to a movie.
